Why I Blog

Why Do You Blog?I’m no expert in the field of blogging and if you look around, you’ll find tons of bloggers blogging about blogging all over the Internet, but what makes me different is, I blog because writing is my passion. Helping others is my purpose and when I combine my passion and my purpose, blogging just comes naturally to me so I actually love what I’m doing, and even if I get steamrolled by the popular guys, I’m still doing what I want to do, and I’m hoping that readers like you can actually see that in my, ahem…”work”.

My first attempt at blogging was to share information with other programmers that were involved in the guts of data management. With my lifelong passion in writing, it fulfilled that desire, but in the long run, I wasn’t really helping anybody, nor was I putting in much effort to reach out as I do today. I then blogged about me…but even my family didn’t want to read about that. :)

Why Rich Wallace Blogs
When I ask myself the question on why I do this, I can still answer with the same drive and passion linking back to my desire to help others in one way or another. My blog is my soapbox and it is my online realm where I can do just that, as long as others are willing to come in, (just make sure you wipe your feet, please). When I started blogging about managing Bipolar Relationships, within a matter weeks, I felt that my passion was finally coming to fruition as once I started pushing the content out to the Internet, people responded and responded really well.

People started to reach out and ask for advice and really put forth the effort to thank me and support the work I was doing on the blog, and that made it all worthwhile. To make even the smallest difference in the lives of others is what really drives the motivation to keep going and adding that little spark of hope or showing people that they aren’t alone is just…well, awesome.

I’m Not Just Another Voice
My main reason for blogging was not to just get some basic information out there, but rather, to volunteer myself into a world that is constantly battling a very ugly stigma associated with it. Mental Health Disorders. I quickly learned that many people are sometimes a bit too scared or embarrassed to talk about such a topic but since my life has been touched by such a challenge, I chose to tackle it head on, and it makes me feel good to know that others support that decision and my efforts in doing so.

At the same time, I also enjoy blogging so much that I want to help those that are making the decision to start up a blog and manage their efforts effectively. Again, I like to help others and this is one of the ways that I know how to do so at a potentially global scale since anybody can blog from practically anywhere.
